What causes acne in babies?

The acne-like lesions you see on your baby’s body are called milia, or baby acne, in medical language. It is especially seen on the face, neck and legs. The chin, forehead and sides of the nose are the most common areas.

These newborn acne images can appear about 2 weeks after the baby is born, in some babies it can be seen right after birth.

The cause of milia in infants is the activation of the sebaceous glands in the skin by the hormones passed to the baby in the last stages of pregnancy and the sequestration of the secreted oil in the developing pores of the baby. So what we think of as newborn acne is actually a buildup of oil. But don’t worry, they are not harmful to the baby and may go away on their own over time.

Again, factors such as using the wrong care product and excessive heat can cause these structures, similar to white acne, to be seen in babies.

Rash like acne in babies

In babies, redness such as acne on the face can often occur due to a rash. Try to choose cotton clothes that won’t make your baby sweat and try to ensure that he doesn’t stay in the heat too long. This problem will disappear.

Inflamed acne in babies

If the pimples on the face of babies are inflamed with a yellowish-looking tip, a skin problem or infection may be in question. In this case, it would be beneficial to show your baby to a specialist. Because these inflamed pimples do not go away in a short time, they grow and if they are not treated, different problems may arise.

Pimples on baby’s head

If it’s still milia-style white pimples on your baby’s head, you don’t have to be afraid. These pimples also disappear on their own without causing any discomfort to the baby.

How to get rid of acne on the face of babies?

As we mentioned above, most pimples in babies go away on their own without any intervention and do not leave a trace. However, in inflammatory cases, a medication recommended by the doctor can be used or intervened. Apart from these, you can apply the following suggestions for your baby’s acne problem.
